Should Young Children Acquire Social Media Skills at an Early Age

December 28,2025

Or at what age should children prepare to use social media and form accounts on their own?

Recently, developed countries such as Australia, Denmark, Norway, and Brazil have legally formed laws stating that children should not use social media under any circumstances until the age of 16.

Scientific studies say that children's brains are never prepared to use social media at a young age. Children's brains are not at all ready to handle things like addiction loops, cyberbullying, and anxiety.

Children who use social media excessively lose a lot of their real-life conversation and interaction skills as well as the confidence for it. Scientific studies say that their confidence, eye contact, social interactive skills, as well as their skills and participation in outdoor activities like games and sports, are significantly reduced.

Scientific studies say that excessive use of social media causes a lot of tantrums and behavioral problems in children. Causes such as sleep problems, irritability, aggression, and decreased attention are widely seen in children due to social media use. They are exposed to things like sharing their personal photos and watching pornography.

More than social media, what children need most today are communication skills, social skills, peer group interaction, sports, games, and arts. We should divert children more toward participation and ability in such things.

Such a natural environment and stimulation are what children need most today.
