Who Should Plan and Monitor the Therapy for a Child with Developmental Needs

April 15,2025

Child development is not the duty of just one person. You might have heard the saying in English... "It takes a village to develop a child."

So, many people are important for a child's development. Especially if there are developmental disorders, we need a multidisciplinary team.

That should consist of a developmental pediatrician, their own pediatrician, and the parents. Parents should also be guided in this process. Only if parents are involved will we get results.

All types of therapists are needed - Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist. Similarly, a Special Educator is required for an individual education plan.

Likewise, behavior. There will be many behavioral issues associated with these developmental problems. To tackle those, a Behavioral Therapist is also needed.

Then there are problems like EEG, issues with fits, or if the child has some neurological issues. In those cases, the help of a Neurologist is needed.

All of this together makes a multidisciplinary team to help this child overcome all these developmental issues.
